Maerki Baumann has secured regulatory approval to launch a crypto-focused business unit in the United Arab Emirates. The Swiss private bank will operate under the ARCHIP brand, targeting tech entrepreneurs and blockchain ventures with tailored financial services.

The Abu Dhabi outpost will offer institutional-grade crypto services including liquidity management, trading, custody, and staking solutions. These operations will be supported by the bank's Zurich-based Tech Banking division, which already serves hundreds of digital asset clients.

Andreas Froehlicher, former General Counsel at Maerki Baumann, will lead the Middle East expansion. "Our Abu Dhabi presence creates direct access to the region's thriving crypto ecosystem," Froehlicher noted, emphasizing the combination of Swiss banking standards with blockchain expertise.

CEO Stephan A. Zwahlen called the UAE license a strategic milestone, reflecting the bank's commitment to serving technology-driven financial innovators. The MOVE comes as ADGM continues positioning Abu Dhabi as a global crypto hub.
